New to Vedic astrology?

Vedic astrology (Jyotish) uses the sidereal zodiac, about 24° from the tropical zodiac of Western astrology, so your signs usually move back by one. No background is needed - these four words cover most of a first reading:

  • Lagna - your rising sign, which sets the twelve houses
  • Chandra Rashi - your Moon sign, the sign Indian astrology leads with
  • Nakshatra - one of 27 lunar mansions; yours is the Moon's
  • Dasha - the planetary period you are living through, used for timing

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname? Your birth time

Give the time on the birth certificate and the town of birth. Guyana's clocks have moved twice in living memory: UTC−3:45 until 1 August 1975, UTC−3 from then until 29 March 1992, and UTC−4 since. Suriname ran on UTC−3:30 until 1 October 1984 and has used UTC−3 since. Trinidad and Tobago keeps Atlantic Standard Time (UTC−4) without daylight saving. The chart applies the offset in force on your birth date, so give an older Guyanese or Surinamese birth time exactly as recorded rather than converting it.

What clients in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname ask about

Indo-Caribbean roots

Most Indo-Caribbean families descend from indentured labourers who sailed, largely from Calcutta (Kolkata), between 1838 and 1917 - to British Guiana from 1838, Trinidad from 1845 and Suriname from 1873 - many from today's Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The jyotish they brought - kundali, Rashi, Nakshatra, the naming letter - is the same system read here, explained in English or Hindi.

Divali and Phagwah timings

Divali is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago and in Guyana, and Phagwah (Holi) is a public holiday in Guyana and Suriname. Because the region is 8.5 to 9.5 hours behind India, the tithi that sets a festival can begin on a different local date, so puja timings are worked out for your own sunrise and sunset rather than copied from an Indian panchang.

Matching across the diaspora

Matches are often between families in Trinidad, Guyana or Suriname and relatives in New York, Toronto, London or the Netherlands. Kundali matching covers Ashtakoot guna milan, Manglik status and long-term compatibility, and every family can join the same call.

Readings in English or Hindi

Caribbean Hindustani and Sarnami grew out of Bhojpuri and Awadhi. Sessions are given in English or standard Hindi, which many elders who learnt Hindi for prayers and bhajans follow well; Dutch, Sarnami and Creole are not offered.

Staying, studying or migrating

Whether to study abroad, follow family north or build a career at home: the 4th, 9th and 12th houses, read with your running Dasha, show which periods favour a move and which favour putting down roots.

Relationships and life direction

For a first reading without a family tradition behind it, the questions are usually love, work and purpose. The session starts from your Lagna, Moon sign and running Dasha, in plain English, and no prior knowledge is assumed.

Questions from Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname

What time are sessions in Trinidad, Guyana and Suriname?
India is 9.5 hours ahead of Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, and 8.5 hours ahead of Suriname, all year. Indian morning slots fall on your previous evening and Indian evening slots in your morning. The booking calendar shows every open slot in your local time.
I was born in Guyana before 1992. Is my birth time affected?
Your birth time is not wrong, but the clock was different: UTC−3:45 until August 1975 and UTC−3 until March 1992, against UTC−4 today. Give the time exactly as recorded and the correct historical offset is applied during calculation. The same applies to Suriname before October 1984, when clocks ran on UTC−3:30.
Can the reading be in Hindi?
Yes. Readings are given in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Sindhi and Urdu. Dutch, Sarnami and Creole are not offered; a family member can join the call to help an elder follow.
Can relatives in New York, Toronto or the Netherlands join?
Yes. Share the Google Meet link and family members in any country can join the same live reading.
Do I need to know Vedic astrology? How is it different from Western astrology?
No background is needed - every term is explained as the reading goes, and the site has a glossary of Vedic astrology terms. Vedic astrology (Jyotish) uses the sidereal zodiac, measured against the fixed stars, while Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac tied to the equinoxes. The two currently sit about 24 degrees apart, so most of your planets, often including the Sun, fall one sign earlier in a Vedic chart. Jyotish also puts more weight on the Moon sign, the 27 Nakshatras (lunar mansions) and Dasha periods, which is how it times events.
Which consultation should I start with?
If you have one clear question - a job offer, a relationship, whether this is a good year to move - start with Ask One Question, a short live session in which your chart is read before the call so the whole time goes to your answer. For a complete picture of career, relationships, money and timing, book the Full Birth Chart Analysis.
How will I know the fee before I pay?
The booking page shows the fee for the consultation you pick, in the currency set for your country (your local currency or US dollars), before you pay. Nothing is charged until you confirm, and fees are not published elsewhere on the site.
Can I reschedule if something comes up?
Yes. Rescheduling is free up to 24 hours before your session - reply to the confirmation email or send a WhatsApp message. Fees are non-refundable, so if a date stops working, move it rather than miss it.
